Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is from Sri Lanka. Jacqueline has two older siblings and a younger sibling. Due to unrest in the country, her parents moved to Bahrain during the 1980s. Following her education in Bahrain her family was granted the Scholarship to attend the University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's master's degree of Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. She was also a student at an institute called the Berlitz school of languages, which helped her improve on French, Arabic and Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was crown in March 2006; she also participated in Miss Universe 2006 She entered television after winning an award for the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her program, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone is the daughter of tennis star Prakash Padukone. She was brought up in Bangalore and born in Copenhagen. When she was in her teens she played in badminton championships at national and international levels. However, she left the sport in order to make a profession as fashion designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalore in India. The language she speaks is Konkani is her origin. Her lineage hails from Padukone village, which is located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the State of Karnataka, India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother is a travel consultant.
